- The Steamer
- 15:30 Chesptow – The Hudnalls – 8.6
Nothing else with too much strength in the 15:30 and I’m expecting The Hudnalls to trade lower thats its current price
Results – Betfair’s SP was 9.35 however the horse did trade at 8.2 during the day, again it was disappointing that no-one really got hold of it with Magnifico in the same race being backed in the afternoon
- The Place Backs
- 13:00 Lingfield – Punjabi – No bet odds to low
- 15:50 Lingfield – Jaconet – No Bet odds to low
- 16:45 Kempton – Shammick Boy – 1.78
The first two horses have very good chances but at the odds avaliable then its really best to miss it, for me at least. Shammick Bay has been gathering strength all morning and looks to be a good bet for a place, I would have liked the odds to be a bit higher but I’m corfortable with what they are
Result – Punjabi and Jaconet duly romped home but I couldn’t see any value in the prices that were going for, yes there will be short priced winners that I leave out but in that case the risk Vs reward wasn’t to my liking. Shammick finished 2nd for a place being beaten by Mic’s Delight
- The Place Lays
- 14:30 Kempton – Viking Rebel – 2.32
- 14:55 Chepstow – Itsadiscovery – 2.2
- 14:55 Chepstow – Orana Conti – 2.68
Viking Rebel is running in a 5 runner race and is going to be had pushed to make it past The Nightindale to the post, I feel this a good lay.
Itsadiscovery hasn’t really developed too well during the day so far, so again I’m happy taking this one on
Orana Conti running in the same race at Chepstow doesn’t look that strong either, Im in two mind whether to lay 2 horses in 1 race but I think it could pay off
Results – Viking rebel never really troubled for a place at Chepstow finishing 4th in the running.
for the 14:55 it was a very sad sight to watch the race, I dont know if anyone else saw it, but out of six horses that started the race, only one passed the finish line (at a walking pace). Itsadiscovery was the first to fall and was close to hitting Moulin when it jumped the hurdle. Orana Conti fell at another hurdle further on after leading the race for a while. Ringsend Rosie crossed the line very wearily after having been waved around the final fence – no one seemed to know what was happening.
Unfortunatly Orana Conti fell hard, very hard and remained motionless on the floor in a sickening way. I’ve been on the lookout for information all day and it seems that sadly the horse had to be put down after the owners and trainers tried their hardest for the horse, and having to make that decision.
The going was described as heavy, but Chepstow should have its own going types from tarmac to concrete, I’m not saying this was a reason but all of the horses were completely shattered half way through.
So yes we got 2 winning place lays, and the winning place back, but I’ll be honest with you that doesn’t matter to me at the moment, I can still see the horse falling in my mind
